Well what a great Masters ! All credit to Bubba Watson for his first Major victory, and just as much credit to Louis Oosthuizen for his behaviour in defeat. I can seldom remember a year at Augusta when so many players were in with a chance of the title, and it certainly made for great viewing. Tiger came up short once again and in my opinion until he replaces that morose look on his face with an occasional smile , he will have little chance of regaining the winning Majors habit . Some of the club throwing and cursing is hardly an example for our young players to follow, and follow they will. Time for the authorities to do something about it in my opinion.
The best player tee to green, by some way, was our own Lee Westwood . It was painful to then see him struggle with the putter so badly. Of all parts of the game to fix , putting is the hardest and I really hope Lee can find a way to shave a couple of shots of his average , then I feel sure a Major will be his .
So that is the season well and truly under way. I hope you are enjoying your golf and if we can help here at Protrolley with any equipment or advice please give us a call.
Well it looks like Tiger is back ! A comfortable five shot win at bay Hill will have done much to lay to rest some of the “demons” that have been lurking in his mind. Following his private life collapse , he has battled against both injury and swing changes but looked right back to his old self , with the exception of the odd wild shot.
This is perfect timing for The Masters next Month , and he is sure to be a popular pick to pick up another Major. However I think Luke Donald is in perfect shape to gain his first Major. He is not the longest hitter out there , but his precision and consistency allied to a hot putter can bring him home in front at Augusta. Becoming World number One will surely have given him the confidence to gain his first “big one”.
To me , The Masters always signals the season is really underway and I hope you all have a great golfing season ahead of you. If Protrolley can help with any equipment , trolleys, batteries, bags or our wide range of golf accessories , please give us a call or follow the link to our website.
Another great boost for European golf this week with Justin Rose winning the World Golf Championship at Doral. Add to that , Rory McIlroy finishing third, despite a first round 73, and the Americans must be wondering what has happened to end their one-time dominance. The leading US player was in seventh place , and a recently resurgent Tiger Woods had to withdraw after 11 holes of the final round with a leg problem. He might struggle to be ready for the Masters in three weeks time.
The new Ultra range of Electric Golf Trolleys at Protrolley are proving popular with the Ultra Remote selling really quickly. Read about them at www.protrolley.com
A great finish to the Honda Classic in Florida last week resulted in a win for Rory McIlroy and earned him the World number one spot. He will be particularly pleased in that he held off the challenge of Tiger Woods , who surged through the field with a round of sixty two. Woods second shot at the last to set up an eagle was breathtaking. Over water to the narrowest part of the green, this shot alone signalled that he may be close to being back to his best. No wonder the pair are joint favourites for the first Major of the year, The Masters at Augusta.
Rory showed me a maturity that I had not seen before even in his previous wins , and as Tiger’s absence has given so many players a lot of confidence , we are in for an exciting year.
The excitement at Protrolley has been all about our new Ultra and Ultra Remote Trolleys. Already selling well , these superb models are sure to be seen on the fairways all over the Country.
The tournaments in Europe and America certainly served up exciting finishes at the weekend. Robert Rock recorded the biggest win of his career in Abu Dhabi , but not without a nerve racked final hole. He played beautifully in the last round in contrast to playing partner , Tiger Woods, who only hit 3 out of his first 14 greens in regulation. However Rock saved the worst swing of his round for the eighteenth tee , pushing his shot into the hazard and finally only scrambling home by a shot.
At Torrey Pines in California Kyle Stanley had been in control all week and looked set to win his first Tour event going to the last three ahead. A perfect drive gave this long hitter the chance to go for the green , over water, on this par five, but with so much in hand a lay up was the right call. However the problem came when instead of playing for the fat part of the green, he went for the front flag, and saw a pretty good shot spin back into the water. A penalty drop and then a pitch to the part of the green he should have hit in the first place was followed , almost inevitably , by a 3 putt for an eight and a shock play-off with Brandt Snedeker who had birdied the same hole for a 4 shot swing. More chances followed in the play-off for Stanley but finally a missed 5 footer confirmed his misery. Stanley will win tournaments , soon , if the scars of this don’t go deep.
