Exciting finishes this week !!

The tournaments in Europe and America certainly served up exciting finishes at the weekend. Robert Rock recorded the biggest win of his career in Abu Dhabi , but not without a nerve racked final hole. He played beautifully in the last round in contrast to playing partner , Tiger Woods, who only hit 3 out of his first 14 greens in regulation. However Rock saved the worst swing of his round for the eighteenth tee , pushing his shot into the hazard and finally only scrambling home by a shot.

At Torrey Pines in California Kyle Stanley had been in control all week and looked set to win his first Tour event going to the last three ahead. A perfect drive gave this long hitter the chance to go for the green , over water, on this par five, but with so much in hand a lay up was the right call. However the problem came when instead of playing for the fat part of the green, he went for the front flag,  and saw a pretty good shot spin back into the water. A penalty drop and then a pitch to the part of the green he should have hit in the first place was followed , almost inevitably , by a 3 putt for an eight and a shock play-off with Brandt Snedeker who had birdied the same hole for a 4 shot swing. More chances followed in the play-off for Stanley but finally a missed 5 footer confirmed his misery. Stanley will win tournaments , soon , if the scars of this don’t go deep.

2012 European Tour Preview

European Tour Preview 2012
Strange though it, is the European Tour actually kicks off in South Africa on January 5th , with the African Open at the East London Golf Club. This event will be co- sanctioned between the Euro and African Tours , and advice will follow when I know the full field.
Meanwhile here are some thoughts on players who I feel will figure for us this year.
Matteo Manassero has already won twice on Tour and going into his third full year , I feel could be a man to follow. 7th in driving accuracy and 29th in greens in regulation are key stats , and this teenager is mature well beyond his years.
South African George Coetzee had 7 top tens last year and impressed me as a tough customer who would be good to have on our side , especially in some of the lesser events. 15th in putting, 16th in driving distance and 27th in scrambling are useful stats. (scrambling is the ability to get down in 2 shots when a player has missed the green in regulation figures)
Joost Luiten from Holland is another with 7 top tens last year and has steadily improved over his time on the full Tour. 14th in greens in regulation and 27th in scrambling are his key stats.
Simon Dyson is a player who I feel can really break through this year , he has already won 6 times , and will be pushing hard for a Ryder Cup spot. Not scared of winning and a very sound technique , gives me hope that he will be in the top spot regularly over his career.
Rookie of the Year Tom Lewis will be interesting to watch , as he certainly seemed the real deal in his short time on tour last year.
The player who I think is under-performing is Danny Willett. This former World no.1 amateur seems to have settled into a comfortable life on Tour without showing the grit needed to go with his undoubted talent. Will be keeping an eye out for him though.
Happy New Year to you all from us at Protrolley !

From the fairway !

IT’S MORE FUN FROM THE SHORT GRASS
Walking up the middle of the fairway from the tee box to a golf ball sitting pretty on the short grass is a good feeling. It makes golf much simpler. Luke Donald gives up 30 yards to a player like Phil Mickelson off the tee, yet he outscores him week after week. While Phil gets the airtime producing magical recovery shots (from places he shouldn’t have been in the first place) Donald keeps putting it in play and hitting those greens in regulation. Who do you think is having the most fun?
I want you to put ‘distance’ to one side for a moment and think about the benefits of finding the fairway. Yes, you may have to sacrifice 20 yards, but if it doubles your chances of hitting the green in regulation then surely it must be worth it? If you’re still in any doubt here are a few very good reasons why accuracy, and not brute force, is the way forward.

1/ You don’t get flyers from the short grass.

2/ You get a consistently good lie.

3/ You get accurate distances.

4/ There is nothing in your way.

5/ Ball striking and accuracy go hand in hand.

6/ Electric trolleys don’t perform so well in the woods !!

Happy golfing from the Protrolley team.

No more pulling around

Gone are the days when you had to push or pull your golf trolley or worse, carry your clubs on your shoulders. The electric golf trolleys have successfully replaced the old style golf trolleys that need to be tugged around, and more and more players and golf clubs are using electric golf trolleys today. An electric golf trolley is no longer a luxury and is considered as an indispensable item for the regular golfer. Even if you are an keen amateur, these trolleys can actually improve your performance by helping you to conserve your energy and focus more on your game.

In most places electric golf trolleys are fairly common and are almost the norm. These days you hardly ever see people walking the course, pulling on their traditional trolleys filled with golf accessories. However, over the years as golf has gained increasing popularity, now more and more people play golf. These electric golf trolleys are relatively fast and help to cover the course faster, thereby substantially reducing the wait time on the tee.

An electric golf trolley also contributes to your performance by helping you to maintain muscle control, balance and body symmetry throughout the entire game. Pushing or pulling a heavy trolley strains your muscles and people who pull their carts have the maximum chance of getting a back sprain. The ultimate result is that you fail to make the best strokes that might have got you a birdie.

If you want to give your best when you are on the greens then you definitely need an electric golf trolley. Golf is a game that requires players to constantly pay attention to the smallest detail and maintain high level of fitness. Wasting energy pulling your golf clubs can seriously affect your game.

These electric golf trolleys definitely help you to keep your strokes above par and out perform your competitors as it saves valuable energy and stress caused by walking the course and pulling your clubs along.

Fortunately for us, these electric golf trolleys no longer cost you the earth and are actually affordable. There are many websites that sell electric golf trolleys, however you should always ensure that the trolley is safe and reliable and the buyer you are buying from is reputable.
