Electric Golf Trolleys – Reducing Injury or Adding Comfort?

The most common of these injuries is the lower-back or spinal injury, closely followed by the left wrist and shoulder. At least three out of every five golfers experience back injuries at some point of time or another. The primary causes of such injuries are due to poor swing mechanics, poor physical fitness and sporadic play.

However, Golf accessories also play an intrinsic role in the most common injuries. A fully loaded Golf bag can weigh up to nearly 20 Kilograms, thus putting a massive strain on the back, neck, shoulder and arms of a player. Even for a pull trolley, commonly used for carrying the clubs, it is necessary to walk around in a bent forward and twisted position, thus causing a potential risk of back and shoulder pain.

The injuries caused by poor physical fitness and sporadic play could be prevented by strengthening and flexing the Golf muscles through regular exercise. But what could possibly replace a Golf bag or a pull trolley and has been around for some time? Of course, I am talking about the electric Golf trolley… What are these accessories all about? Do they actually reduce the risk of back injury or are they simply a fashion accessory used by the upper classes purely for added comfort?

An electric Golf trolley, as the name suggests, is a battery operated automatic Golf trolley that could be either manual or remote control. It provides easy transportation of clubs from tee to green and allows a normal upright posture while walking. This reduces the risk of strains and injuries. This also provides added comfort and helps the golfer to concentrate on his swing.

Golf is a game of relaxation. Hence a high comfort level should always be maintained to enjoy it to the fullest. Comfort being an important factor should never be overlooked. On the other hand, the strain and pain being an inherent characteristic of the game, also makes it extremely necessary to adopt every bit of prevention and exercise to reduce the risk of injuries. Electric Golf trolleys, with all its advantages, provide both, thus making it an essential accessory for a relaxing game.

A life made easier

One example would be the tiresome activity of lugging that heavy bag of clubs around the course, complete with waterproofs, drinks bottle, banana and a dozen balls. A full bag can weigh up to 20 Kilograms, putting a big strain on your back, shoulders, neck and arms. Stop lugging that heavy golf bag and let an Electric golf trolley work for you. Using a powered cart is about game improvement, leaving you to concentrate on your swing and executing your best shot.

To those that have brought an electric caddy, they are finding that it is the perfect playing partner. More and more golfers are realising just how important a cart is for their game. There was a time when using a motorised caddy was something of a luxury. In most places it is not like that anymore, powered trolleys are fairly common and almost the norm. You rarely see a whole group walking the course with out at least one of them using a powered cart.

There are many benefits of using a powered caddy over a traditional pull trolley. With the manual option, you are required to walk around in a bent forward and twisted position. Which after a while can in my experience cause back and shoulder pain, thus negating the benefit of a trolley? The best option is a powered caddy; an electric trolley will transport your clubs from tee to green with ease, whilst allowing you to walk behind the cart in a normal upright position, gently guiding the trolley at you own pace.

Owning an electric cart doesn’t have to cost the earth, they are compact, come complete with a range of accessories and cost little more than a quality traditional trolley.

Do’s and Don’ts for Maintaining Your Golf Trolley Battery

As the game of golf is gaining popularity over the world and becoming more and more competitive with every passing day, several new pieces of assistive equipment have been introduced to enhance a golfer’s performance, and making the game better. These items not only help a golfer decide on how to make the correct swing but some also help reduce a golfer’s fatigue and injuries to help him perform better. The golf trolley is one such piece of equipment. In present day golf, this item has become a necessity for any serious minded golfer as opposed to just an item of style and luxury. A golf trolley helps to reduce the stress of carrying the heavy golf bag around and thus relaxes the shoulder, lower back and neck helping a golfer to concentrate more on the game without having to worry about the tiredness and injury.

However, like all equipment, a golf trolley also needs proper maintenance to function perfectly in the long run. It needs to be cleaned properly, the wheels need to be cleared of mud and debris which accumulates during the long sessions on a lush green course, the clutch needs to be cleaned, and so on. Failing to do so might cause the golf trolley to malfunction and leave its owner stranded in the middle of a game.

Although a golf trolley requires all these maintenance steps to function properly, the main area of concern for its performance remains the battery. The battery is the primary source of power for the golf trolley and it requires proper maintenance and proper charging methods for a long lasting performance, and in turn helping the golf trolley to perform better. It is essential for the proud owner of a golf trolley to know how to properly maintain its battery for the optimum utilisation of the equipment.

The primary step for maintaining the battery for a golf trolley is proper methods of charging. Special care should be taken to ensure that the battery is being charged in the correct method. For this purpose, it is important to know that a battery life will depend on certain factors. They are the frequency of use, the number of holes played in each round of the game, the type of the golf course i.e. whether it’s hilly or flat, the weight of the bag and clubs that the golf trolley would carry across the course for the entire stretch of the game and, of course, the battery age. A new battery should be charged for at least 24 hours to activate it before using, even if the “charge complete light comes on before the time is over. A battery should do fine for 18 holes. Using it for more than that without charging might discharge and damage the battery. So after every game it should be properly charged. It is definitely not recommended to keep the battery connected to the charger with the mains switched off. In the case that the golf trolley is not required to be used for a long time, the battery should be stored properly. It should be fully charged, removed from the charger and stored in a place having a temperature between ten to thirty degrees Celsius. It should be recharged every three months at least.

Legal Implications of Remote Controlled Golf Trolleys

Legal Implications of Remote Controlled Golf Trolleys In Europe

Remote controlled golf trolleys are assistive golf equipment that reduce much of the stress by carrying the heavy golf bag, which often weighs thirty to forty pounds, and other accessories around the course at the push of a button and at the convenience of the golfers. As the game of golf calls for more strenuous efforts from its players, these remote controlled golf trolleys have become a real necessity for serious golfers around the world. However, not all remote controlled golf trolleys are legal. So it is always better to check before purchasing one, especially if you are in the European Union.

Many remote controlled golf trolleys are being imported into the European Union as their demand increases. However, not all these trolleys abide by European standards. Hence they are illegal. In order to be legally marketed within the EC, the products need to pass the R&TTE test. This test is to ensure that the transmitter of remote controlled golf trolleys abide by the strict guidelines and maintain European standards. It ensures that the transmitter is within safety limits and would not interfere with other devices in the area. OFCOM, the regulatory body for communication devices in United Kingdom has banned several products for failing the test.
