What a fantastic performance by Tom Lewis to secure his first Pro win in only his 4th start on the European Tour ! Lewis becomes the latest “new kid on the block” following Rory McIlroy, in taking the Tour by storm. Its the same in America with Fowler , Simpson ,Watney ,Woodland , Cauley and others all suddenly bursting into the public eye. Why are we seeing so many new faces ? Well one opinion is that with Tiger having experienced so many problems, they now realise that they can win tournaments, instead of feeling they were playing for second place , as was the case when Tiger was so dominant.
I am not sure that Tiger is washed up yet , but if and when he returns to something like his former game, he will find he doesn’t scare these guys. Exciting times for us all whatever happens !

So many golfers play with no clue of how far they hit the ball, and waste dozens of shots as a result. Many think they are not consistent enough to bother with yardages, but why waste shots when you strive so hard to lower your score in other ways?
The starting point to this is to use a GPS device, and become familiar with the exact distance you are from the hole , rather than just using a cursory glance at the 150 yd marker. Gradually you will discover that you are more consistent than you thought. Sure you will still miss-hit shots , so do the pros, but there is nothing more galling than pulling off your best swing and then finding the ball going nowhere near the hole as you had the wrong distance !
